Today, we continue our study of Spiritual Warfare by beginning a study of our weaponry. The first weapon?
The blood of Christ.
The overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. REVELATION 12:11 NKJV
When speaking of victory over Satan, the blood is listed as one of the instruments of our warfare.
What is it about the blood that makes it so effective against the enemy?
We are first introduced to the meaning of blood in the OT. The Hebrew word for blood:
Spelled with two Hebrew letters: Dalet and Mem.
Dalet: Pictograph meaning: Pathway or Doorway. Number value is 4.
Mem: Pictograph meaning: Liquid. Number value is 40.
The number 4 means: Creation. The number 40 means: trial or probation. Since 5 (grace) and 8 (new beginnings) are products of 40, then the gematria for blood means:
A period of trial in Creation that ends in an action of grace followed by revival.
The plural of the Hebrew word for blood:
The Hebrews were taught that life was in the blood.
Only be sure that you do not eat the blood, for the blood is the life; you may not eat the life with the meat. Deuteronomy 12:23 NKJV
The Hebrews were also taught that blood has a voice.
And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground. Genesis 4:10 NKJV
Let’s carry this to Jesus’ sacrifice.
The blood of Jesus is our liquid doorway into an act of grace which produces a revival in our lives!
The blood of Jesus pays the payment for our sins and guilt and sets the stage for retribution against our enemies!
The blood of Jesus gives us the essence of the very life of Christ! The victorious overcoming life of our Savior!
The blood speaks on our behalf!
You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel. Hebrews 12:23-24
What victory does the blood speak over you?
I am spared from God’s wrath!
“Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” (Romans 5:9)
My judgment has been satisfied!
“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1)
I am a victor!
“Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.” (Colossians 2:15)
I am more than a conqueror through Him who loved me! (Romans 8:7)
I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength! (Phil. 4:13)
The blood has the final word!
