A Look Backward……Forward

A lot of stuff has happened since the beginning of the year. As I think about what has transpired so far, I am reminded of what the Lord told me before the year began.

The Lord shared with me that this was going to be a year of revelation. To expound, He told me that, by the time this period is over we would know where people stand. Some who we thought stood for one thing will actually be revealed to be standing for something else. There will be a revelation of motives and true positions on issues.

He also told me that this would be a time of separation. The things that are not originating from God would be revealed and so that they can be judged by you and I. In other words, we are going to know “what is what” and “who is who” so that it will get harder and harder for the enemy to dupe the true people of God.

This is also a time of judgment. Certain things that are not originating from God will find their foundation taken from underneath them and will fall. It is a time to take stock of who you are aligned with. It is time to move away from the tents of pretenders and rebels and station yourself with those who love the Lord (Numbers 16:24).

This is a year of strange alliances. Many who have had little in common before now will align in common attack against the Bible and against those who believe it and live it. We will see alliances between groups that seem to agree on nothing (i.e. feminism and religions that degrade women) because they both have one thing in common – they hate the true Word of God.

In the midst of great turmoil, great victory and salvation will occur. The more that Satan attacks and rages, the more grace and power that will be reflected through God’s people. This will further enrage the enemy and he will realign in anger for another attack. I do see some interesting “salvations” along the way. You will hear of some getting saved who you never thought would become believers in Jesus and you will shake your head in amazement.

I see the Lord enraging the attitude of self righteousness. Self righteousness is not just found in the church but outside of it as well. It is found wherever self promotion and pride exist. God has already begun to show that He is ultimately in control of the affairs of man. This is confounding and enraging those who sought control and self indulgence. We will see more of God’s sovereign control in the future – bringing about His desires and ruining Satan’s premature celebrations of victory.

The clash of ideologies apparent in our culture today cannot find peace with one another. Hatred of those who stand for the Bible will increase. Churches will continue to move away from the true Word because they will not have the heart for the persecution. The nation of Israel will also be a cause for persecution for the church. Support for Israel will continue to bring consternation from many quarters of society. Some churches will turn their back on Israel because of the ridicule that supporting Israel will bring.

These are some things that I believed I heard from the Lord before this year began. As I look backward at them, I open them up for judgment as to their validity going forward. To end with, I believe that Psalm 2 is a great picture of what is happening in our country and world right now:

Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us.” He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall hold them in derision. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure: “Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion.”

I will declare the decree: the Lord has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.'”

Now therefore, be wise, O kings; be instructed you judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little.

Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
