Yet Without Sin

“Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are yet without sin.” Hebrews 4:14

Have you ever had a time in which you were under some type of “attack” by an “enemy” that felt too strong for you to overcome?

I have had those times.

It always helps, when you’re going through something to know that someone else has gone through something similar to you — it makes you feel less isolated. The scripture from Hebrews tells us that Jesus has been tempted at every point just as we have. Yes, you read that right… EVERY point just as we have!!

I know that some feel as if their situation is a strange one – so unique that very few actually experience what they have. But, in this passage, we are told that Jesus can sympathize with every temptation because He Himself has experienced them just as you have!!!

Sexual sin? Yes, He was tempted. Suicide? Yes, satan tempted Him to jump from the temple. Pride? Yes. Anger and hatred? Yes. Depression? Yes.Satanic attack? Yes.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes!!

The scripture tells us that He can sympathize with these weaknesses – He knows how it feels to experience them.

That helps, doesn’t it?

But, there is even better news!

He not only can sympathize with the feelings but He overcame each temptation!!

He was tempted in all points as we are yet without sin! That means that He went through each one without fulfilling the desire of the flesh or the desire of the devil. He was able to defeat the temptation in every instance………..not one time did He lose the battle!

What does that mean for you?

It means that Jesus understands the pain of your attack and temptation. It also means that He possesses the power to overcome each one of them! Since you are a partaker of His Spirit, you also do not have to give in or be defeated by the attack coming against you!

You can overcome! You can stand! You can go free!

Satan doesn’t want you to know this. He wants you to focus on his goal in the temptation which is to bring you down. But, if you refuse to give in and make satan face His defeat by Jesus, you will win the battle every single time!

It was your victory that Jesus won! Satan wants you to be deceived into thinking you have no choice in the matter. Agape love always includes the aspect of choice! You do have a choice; you can choose victory over the things the enemy brings against you!

I pray for you today that you will tap into the power to choose the Holy Ghost instead of the unholy lie! Jesus paid it all! There is not one temptation too powerful for His blood! All temptations and sins have been slaughtered through the power of the Cross!!
