Like Lightning

When my  children were in school, we lived in a small town west of Fort Worth, Texas. During the many years that we lived there, I had the opportunity to be in some mighty powerful thunderstorms. Most storms here in Texas come from the west. Just west of Fort Worth is a lot of open country. Storms would gain strength as they traveled across the open country and by the time they reached where we lived………well, they were very strong!

During those storms I would often see powerful lightning strikes crashing to earth with thunder rolling like an explosive device had gone off somewhere nearby. I think of these storms when I read the following word from our Lord:

“I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Luke 10:18-19

The earth experienced a violent “storm” the day that Satan fell and has been experiencing storms of evil ever since. But before you succumb to fear and hopelessness regarding the ever present evil that walks among us, remember a few things Jesus taught us about the “storm of Satan.”

First of all, Satan was kicked out of heaven. He didn’t leave of his own free will. It was the power of God and His heavenly hosts who forced Satan to leave the place where God’s kingdom dwells. Heed the following instructions:

“If Satan is creating havoc where you live, put him under your feet and cast him away from you!”
Jesus has given you the authority to trample on satanic powers. Rather than sitting around as a victim – believing that there is nothing that can be done, use the authority that you have been delegated to take ground from the enemy!

Look at these scriptures:

“Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James 4:7

“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.” Matt. 11:12

“And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.” Romans 16:20

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” Rev. 12:11

“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13

God has given you power and authority to defeat the enemy in your particular circumstance! You have to choose to use what God has given you! Satan must be cast out of your territory or he will continue to create havoc. God has supplied the power, you must use the authority.

Jesus stated that all the power of the enemy lies subject to His authority. All of it!!!!

In what “name” is Satan coming against you? In the name of cancer? In the name of fear? In the name of family discord?

Which of these “names” is higher in authority than the Name of Jesus?

Some people never learned how to fight. Now, I’m not a proponent of violence but when it comes to Satan you must know that he will not respond to begging, crying, counseling, etc. To defeat him, you must take the field – dressed in the whole armor of God!! It’s time to make up your mind that you will not cower any longer but you will use your God-given authority against him!

Jesus said, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven (my place of abode).” Use the authority given you by God and you will see Satan fall from your abode. Want to cause a “storm” in the spirit realm?

Take authority over the enemy. He’s been left alone in his plan long enough. It’s time to take the field. The evil day is upon us but so is the day of “Spirit released storm!” Counter the storm that the enemy has released by releasing one upon him. You are a “Spiritually violent person.” Don’t allow your inheritance to lie fallow  —– take it back from the enemy by force!

I admit that I have let my faith suffer in the midst of adversity but God in His infinite mercy has told me “No More! It is time to wake up, get up and FIGHT for what is mine!” I watch you on Sunday through the media archives. My prayer life is getting stronger. I will Not let the enemy have the final word in my life. I am keeping my eyes upon Him and His promises and not upon the storms in my life. I love you guys and hope to get back soon. Thank you for your posts and the ability to see the sermons online. Love you! Faith
