Whose Brain Did you Get?

Do you ever feel as if you have no control over your mind?

Sometimes, the mind feels like a battlefield with war for control going on right between the ears. At times, we believe God’s Word and our hearts and minds are filled with peace and confidence. Then suddenly, doubt and fear assaults our thinking and these thoughts lead to emotional turmoil.

The Bible teaches that living with a divided outlook on life leads to a lack of spiritual, emotional, and physical stability.

James 1:5-8: “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”

A lack of stability doesn’t come from the “loss” of your mind but from confusion about what is true.

You can’t have stability in life when you have conflicting beliefs battling within you. God has said that He will gladly impart wisdom and truth to us regarding anything we go through in life. If we have questions about God and His character or have doubts about the veracity of what He is telling us then we begin to experience more than just “circumstantial” instability or instability caused by difficult, challenging circumstances. Doubt produces an instability that goes much deeper than a change in circumstances does. It produces within us a belief that we have no firm  ground upon which to make our stand in life. When this takes hold, your circumstances are not producing the “storm” in your life but your lack of faith is!

We do not have to be “fear free” to experience a faith filled life but we do have to make a decision upon what we are going to make a stand. And, once we do make a decision, we stand!!!

It is at this point, that God does what only He can do………..intersect our lives with the supernatural.

If the “brain” that you currently have is not working for you, change your way of thinking.

Your brain is simply a receiver that we can pre-program to certain stations. As long as you live, your brain will pick up input (signals) from the world around you. As life goes along, things that have happened to us cause us to “pre-set or pre-program” our mind to certain ways of thinking. Once this is done, we automatically default to these “stations” when something presses our “buttons.”

The answer to peace is not to turn off your mind but to change your “pre-set” buttons! Change the way that you have always thought about things. Don’t allow circumstances and people to rob you of your free will – choose to believe the truth of God’s Word and the peace of God will follow as you stand on the truth.

Unlike Igor, you don’t have to settle for an “abnormal” brain!

We have the mind of Christ! Allow the same mind which was in Christ Jesus to remain in you. When you make the decision to have Him as Lord and your Director, the peace of God will rule your heart and mind by Christ Jesus.

1 Corinthians 2:16: “For ‘who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?’ But we have the mind of Christ.”

Philippians 4:6-9: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy–meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”
