“Do you not say, ‘Four months more and then the harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” John 4:34-35
Boy, is it ever dry here in Texas!!!
The fields are dying because of the lack of rain. It is normal for it to be hot at this time of year and for there to be little rain in Texas. Little is expected from the fields due to the time of year.
It seems as if the church and the people that make up the church are in the same mindset. The people of God seem to be in some type of “waiting” mode – Looking for some spiritual happening to occur to make the time right for harvest. If you ask them what they are waiting for, they would not even be able to tell you, but they are waiting none the less!!!
Jesus addressed this with His disciples in John 4. He knew that their perspective was their reality and was causing this “wait and see” mindset that was pervading His followers. He challenged their perspective with spiritual truth. He told them to “open their eyes”. What they were “seeing” was not God’s reality!
If Jesus says, ‘It’s time for harvest’, what are we waiting for????
We are expecting little from a time in which we should be expecting much!!!!! According to Jesus’ word, it is time for harvest!
What tools do we not have for the job of harvest? Holy Spirit? Got it. Spiritual gifts? Got it. Willingness of God to save? Got it. A more powerful Spirit? Is there one more powerful than the one we already have????
Are we exalting our own opinion of the times above Jesus’ revelation of reality?
The men of Issachar were commended because they were men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do. (1 Chronicles 12:32) Our perception must be the same as Christ’s reality for us to be successful; otherwise, the enemy has defeated us.
Go for it!!!!! As Jesus told His brothers, ‘your time is always opportune!’ John 7:6 NAS
