Galatians 5:1 – “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened by a yoke of slavery.”
Law is a system created by man to make sense of his world and deal with our pain which operates outside of faith and independent of the grace of God. The Bible states in Galatians: do not let yourselves be burdened by a yoke of slavery. In other words, do not allowed yourself to be co-joined to beliefs/systems that promote restriction rather than liberty.
If we, if you create your own law for your life, you have created a system and if you live according to your own system, Christ will be of no value to you at all. Verse 2
Whatever system you create, you are obligated to operate under its rules. Systems are created to meet needs and to protect and if you don’t operate according to the rules of the system you create, the system loses its ability to save and support you. But, here’s the rub:
Trying to receive freedom from any system contrary to God’s word which is not built upon faith in Him causes us to forfeit God’s power available to meet our needs and truly free us.
Many Christians, including myself have tried to set up a system to protect themselves from pain. But, man’s systems wall in the pain and wall out the very grace that is needed to set a person free.
Only one thing counts: faith – trusting in, clinging to, and relying upon God which is expressing itself through love. True biblical love is devoid of fear. 1 John 4:18
Where there is no fear, there is no need for a system.
